Welcome! This is a guide that contains all of the resources, links and explanations that you will need to get started with Canix.
In Canix, the best way to learn is to do! So for each section, review each help center article or video and complete the task associated with it.
If you’re nervous about making mistakes, start in your sandbox first, and practice there!
If you've never seen Canix before, take a look at our Overview here! It will give you a good sense of where to find things and what actions you'll need to take.
Before Onboarding Starts
Before onboarding starts, there are a few things that you can do to get a head start on Canix
Required Action Items
Prepare beginning inventory data
Beginning Inventory Data
To prepare for implementation, the following data is needed to set up your facility. Start internal discussions and preparing data before our first call, where we'll review beginning inventory data strategies and required information.
Instructions on how to Upload Beginning Inventory to Canix are below. This video walks through this beginning inventory upload template - please make a copy or download to begin filling out your current inventory information.
Gather the information below in any format. We will walk through how to upload it on our initial call:
Vendors
Bill of Materials
Customer List
If you are migrating from Distru, you can take a look at our Canix -> Distru Migration Article to better understand how your data will map.
Section 1 - Admin Training
The first step of Canix will be to go through the Admin Training. The Admin training area of Canix is where users and all facility data is set up.
Users and Permission Groups
In this section, you will create all users and permission groups for your facility. Each task has the resources with videos linked that you will need to take these actions.
In this section, we'll review the data to gather for your Canix Master Data - items, locations and strains. This is how you will manage your plants and package inventory in Canix.
Strains and Locations are quite simple. Watch the videos below and complete the Required Action Items below to create strains and locations in your facility.
Required Action Items
Use the resources linked below to upload or manually create your strains and locations in your facility. If you have questions before uploading, reach out to your Canix point of contact or help@canix.com
Now that we've set up strains and locations, we'll set up Items, Sub Types, and Brands. Sub Types and Brands are associated with Items, and Items are assigned to package inventory at all stages of production (raw materials, work in progress and finished goods).
Watch the videos below to understand how to set up and manage these Items, and use sub-types to organize your inventory.
Next, complete the required action items below to finish filling out your Master Data. Links to additional help resources are included if you need a refresher.
As part of Admin set up, you should also set up your integrations. Set up the integrations that you wish to use going forward with Canix and we'll cover how to use each integration in sections below.
Section 2 - Cannabis Inventory Training (Packages)
Packages
In this section, we will review the Packages section of Canix:
How to change package forms, and convert from one inventory type to another (Split / Combine Package)

How to discontinue packages
How to utilize Lot ID or Production Batch to Track Packages through their lineage

Watch the videos below to get a sense of the module, then go through the required Action Items below. The linked resources for each action item includes step by step guides and videos.
Upload Packages
Active Packages are needed in your facility to practice the actions below. If you are a Metrc or BioTrack facility, this inventory data is already synced from the compliance system - confirm this matches your Metrc or BioTrack account by comparing the package counts.
For non-Metrc, non-BioTrack facilities, or to upload packages to your Sandbox facility, use this beginning inventory template. The video below walks through this template, then follow these steps to upload to your facility.
Have questions on what data to enter or uploading into Canix? Reach out to your Canix point of contact or help@canix.com.
Split and Combine Packages
These actions are used to create new package inventory from raw materials to work in progress to finished goods. Follow the videos below to understand these actions and when to use them.
Adjust Packages
Update package quantities to the current quantity on hand, such as after an audit count. The following video walks through how to log adjustments to package quantities in Canix.
Finish or Deactivate Packages

Section 3 - Non-Cannabis Inventory Training (NCI)
Non-cannabis products and lots can be uploaded to create initial products and quantities, or to update products and quantities in bulk.
