Batch Templates in Canix are pre-configured frameworks that streamline the setup of manufacturing runs. These templates serve as a foundation to standardize and automate processes by defining:
-
Key Components:
- Bills of Materials (BOMs): Lists of cannabis and non-cannabis inventory items required for production.
- Cannabis Outputs: Predefined products that are generated as part of the manufacturing process.
- Source Inputs: Raw cannabis and non-cannabis materials needed for the batch.
-
Customizable Settings:
- Run-specific details like name, type, location, labor hours, and notes.
-
Integration:
- By associating templates with BOMs, inventory and production details are automatically prefilled, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy.

Batch Templates help you initiate manufacturing runs quickly, with consistent, repeatable processes tailored to specific product or production needs. They bridge the gap between high-level production planning and detailed execution.
How to Use Batch Batch Templates
Accessing Batch Templates
-
Navigate to the Manufacturing > Batches > Batch Template.
Creating a Template
To create a new Batch Template:
- Select Actions > Create Template
- Enter a name for your Template
Creating a Run on a Template
When you click Add Run, a modal will appear with the following fields:
Required Fields
-
Run Name: Provide a unique name for your run.
Bill of Materials (Multi-Select)
-
-
Selecting a BOM will prefill the selected cannabis and non-cannabis inventory for the run.
-
You can still edit, add, or remove inventory after the run is created.
-
Cannabis Output Items (Multi-Select)
-
If a BOM is selected, cannabis output items are filtered to those associated with the BOM.
-
If only one output item exists on the BOM, it will be pre-selected automatically.
Cannabis Source Inputs (Multi-Select)
-
If a BOM is selected:
-
Pre-select source items specified on the BOM.
-
Allow users to select additional active items.
-
Display items meeting type/sub-type criteria from the BOM, while also showing all active items.
-
Additional Run Settings (Optional)
These fields are collapsed by default but can be expanded for further customization:
-
Run Type: Specify the type of run.
-
Location: Indicate where the run will occur.
-
Labor Hours: Record estimated labor hours.
-
Notes: Add any relevant details about the run.
-
Estimated Non-Cannabis Inputs:
-
If a BOM is selected, this dropdown will display non-cannabis inputs and their quantities.
-
Saving the Run
-
Once all required fields are completed, the Save button becomes active.
-
Click Save to add the run to your Batch Template.
Benefits of Batch Template Updates

-
Save time with prefilled inventory and outputs based on your BOM.
-
Quickly configure runs without redundant data entry.
Accuracy
-
Ensure cannabis outputs and inputs align with manufacturing requirements.
-
Reduce errors by linking templates directly to BOM specifications.
Flexibility
-
Customize runs with optional fields and additional inventory adjustments.
-
Adapt templates to fit unique manufacturing processes.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What happens if I don’t select a BOM?
You can still create a run without a BOM, but fields like cannabis outputs and source items will not be prefilled.
2. Can I edit a run after saving it to a template?
Yes, runs can be modified after they are added to a Batch Template.
3. How do I ensure my BOM is up to date?
Update BOMs through the Bill of Materials section in your account settings to ensure accurate inventory mapping.
4. Can I use multiple BOMs in a single run?
Currently, each run supports one BOM. However, you can manually add additional inventory items as needed.
