Canix Harvesting Overview

Follow these best practices for Harvests to ensure your data is accurate and you maintain compliance.

  1. Create Harvest
  2. Create Package From Harvest
  3. Create Harvest Waste

Create Harvest

The best practice when creating Harvests is to enter the Total Wet Weight for all plants in the harvest when cut, which includes stem, stalk, leaf, and flower. This will likely result in a large number.

Total Wet Weight refers to the complete weight for all plants in the harvest when cut, including the stem, stalk, leaf, and flower.
The most common Harvest error seen with customers new to Metrc compliance is that they do not include all matter for all plants when initially inputting the Total Wet Weight.

After logging the Total Wet Weight for the entire harvest, you can start entering Harvest Waste, including plant material and fibrous waste.

Create Package From Harvest

After the plants have dried completely, we suggest making one large package of each Item that is being produced (Skywalker OG - Bulk Flower, Skywalker OG - Bulk Trim, etc.), which you can then split into smaller packages when allocating to Sales Orders or Transfers.

You can print supplemental Canix labels to apply to bulk package units that may already be physically split into increments. For example, a 10lb. Skywalker OG - Bulk Flower package will be represented in Canix/ Metrc as such with one Metrc tag, but may be physically split into increments of 1lb. turkey bags which can each be labeled with duplicate Canix labels as long as the units/bags are kept together. Create Harvest Waste

Next, add any remaining waste to be deducted from the Current Weight that is considered waste (i.e. fan leaves, stalks, stems).

Once you have logged all physical waste and packaged all harvested material, the only remaining Current Weight will consist of moisture loss (non-physical waste). As such, your harvest waste will never be 0 before finishing.

Finish Harvest

After confirming you have packaged all Harvested material and logged all physical waste, you will need to finish and deactivate the harvest.

This final step is important to make sure no more changes are made to this Harvest once you're done with it, and no new packages are accidentally created from it.
