Canix User Interface Modernization

Canix is very excited to announce a major update and improvement to our user interface. These changes DO NOT impact any of the Canix workflows. These updates are intended to make finding what you need easier, reduce visual clutter, and better align with how teams actually work. This article will explain every change, where things have moved, what's new, and what has been removed (and why!).

Overview and Navigation

Over time, the Canix sidebar has grown organically as we've added features. Pages ended up in sections that didn't always make sense — purchasing lived under Sales, incoming transfers sat inside Inventory, and important areas (Custom Phases, etc.) were buried. The result was a navigation that required you to memorize where things were rather than intuitively finding them.

We’re restructuring the platform navigation around how operators actually think and move through their work. In addition, we've added some tooltips in the application to help you understand where things are or have moved to within the application.

The new navigation is designed around three principles:

1. Workflow-aligned sections — Each navigation section now maps to a distinct business function (Cultivation, Procurement, Sales, Production, etc.) so that users who do that work can find everything they need in one place.
   1. Key areas now follow more natural flows (Operate → Transact → Analyze & Support), so it’s easier to know where to go next.
2. Clearer naming — We've renamed several pages to better describe what they actually contain (e.g., "Packages" → "Cannabis Inventory").
3. Less clutter — Pages that are redundant, rarely used, or consolidated into better tools have been removed.

The aim of this new navigation is to reduce time spent searching, clicking around, or second-guessing where actions live.

When you login, you'll immediately notice the updated look and feel of Canix!

The dashboard will be the first screen you see. You can edit the widgets that are available on the dashboard by clicking on the Edit View button. You will also see notifications that will help you manage your business better. 

As always, you will be able to change licenses directly in Canix. The dropdown functionality remains the same, it has just moved from the Navigation bar specifically to the right side of the screen on the Dashboard. If you need to change licenses, click on the Dashboard and select the license you need from the drop down menu.

Editing Dashboard Views

You can click on the Edit View button in the right hand corner of the screen.

Once you click on Edit View, you will open have access to the Widget Editor. Click on "Edit Widgets" and you can add and remove the items that make the most sense for you. You will see 2 tabs, Active Widgets and Inactive Widgets. To remove a widget from your dashboard, click on the trashcan icon next to that widget. To add a widget, click on the Inactive Widgets tab and click on the + icon to add the widget. Once you update the widgets, you can save the view for future use. 

Navigation Bar Updates

There are a number of improvements that you will see in the Canix navigation bar.

Sections

You will see that the sections in the navigation bar have been updated. You can expand and collapse those sections as you need. In addition, we have added the ability to mute or hide sections if they are not relevant for you. you can click on the icon next menu name and this will "dim" that section. It is still visible but not as dark as the other sections. You can toggle this setting on and off as you need. Do be aware though, the menu item needs to be clicked on for the icon to appear. . If you have "muted" items in the navigation bar, you can hide them entirely by clicking on the "Hide Select Items in Menu" button at the bottom of the navigation. 

You will notice additional icons at the bottom of the navigation menu. The bell will be for updates on the platform. The ? will allow you to access our help center.

If you are in a Metrc state, the Metrc sync button is also included in this grouping of buttons at the bottom of the navigation screen. 

Home Updates

As noted above, the Dashboard has been updated into a 1 button view.

Traceability Updates

Traceability has been moved to Audits to allow you to access the specific data you need more quickly.

Plants and Harvests Updates

Plants and Harvests have now been combined into Cultivation. You no longer need to jump from 1 section to the other, everything Cultivation is grouped together for easier navigation.

Inventory Management Updates

Inventory has been updated to Inventory Management. In addition, the menu items have been clearly labeled and renamed to reflect what each screen in the software does. Master Data has been moved into its own section rather than spread throughout the platform. 

Sales Updates

The Sales section of the platform has been streamlined and broken into subcategories so similar features are better grouped together.

Marketplace Updates

There have been no updates to accessing the Marketplace.

Production Updates

The Production section of the application has been updated and the menu items renamed and ordered for clarity. 

Task Management Updates

The Task Management section of the application has been updated and the menu items renamed and ordered for clarity. 

Reporting Updates

Reporting has been renamed to "Business Intelligence" as this section is more than just reports but information that helps you bring actionable insights for how to best operate your business. 

Tags & Labels Updates

Tags and Labels remains mostly the same but there will be a new feature coming soon for Label Templates (targeted for Q4 2026)!

Admin Updates

The Admin section has been renamed to "Admin and Settings"
