1. Order Metrc Tags
- Ordering and Receiving Metrc Tags must be done from within Metrc. Your designated Metrc account manager will follow these steps in the link above to order the package and plant tags electronically and then receive them into the facility once they've arrived.
2. Accept Incoming and Outgoing Transfers
Canix supports Creating Transfer Templates and sending those to Metrc, however, to accept a transfer, or register a created outgoing transfer, you'll need to take these actions in Metrc. API endpoints for these actions are not currently available in Metrc.
- Accepting Incoming Transfers allows you to accept new packages into your facility so that you can manage them in Canix. This includes purchases made from other licensed distributors.
- Registering Outgoing Transfers allows you to submit your Draft Transfer Template in Metrc. We strongly recommend that you always use Canix to create all Transfers, but once you have done that, you will then need to go into Metrc to simply Register the Transfer so that you can generate a transfer manifest to move the packages out of your facility.
3. Package Plant Waste
- Most states allow for Licensees to dispose of their own Plant Waste, but certain states, such as OK, may require some Licensees to use a Licensed Waste Hauler to dispose of it.
- If your state requires this, your Plant Waste Packages must be created directly in Metrc
- In Metrc, navigate to Plants > Waste > Package Waste to create a Plant Waste Package (after logging Waste)

13. Apply Additives to Plants and Locations
- In certain states including Ohio and Missouri, cultivators are required to track all ingredients, including fertilizer and pesticides, applied to plants.

15. Create Medical Items that Require Item Brand or State Approval
If your state requires certain Items to be made with Metrc Item Brands, or those Items require a State approval, you'll need to create these Items in Metrc. They will be synced back to Canix after they are created.
Why isn't this available in Canix?
- There is not an endpoint available for Canix to send an Item for approval to the State
- While Canix does have a "Brand" field on Items, this is different than the Metrc concept of brands. Certain Metrc States such as OH have specific rules about how the Item Brand should be written, based on the type of the product. These descriptions are more granular than the Canix concept of Brand which is used to track separate product lines.
