1. Overview: What Are COAs in Canix?
A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is a lab test result document verifying the potency, purity, and safety of cannabis products. In Canix, these documents are associated to Packages to ensure downstream processes remain compliant and transparent.
2. Adding COAs to Packages
2.1 Manual Upload
In Standalone and BioTrack states, or in the case a Metrc COA fails to sync, COAs can be manually uploaded into Canix:

Navigate to the relevant Package
- Go to the Inventory section in Canix.
- Select the specific Package to which you want to attach a COA.

Open Package Details
- Click Edit or View on the Package to see its details.

Upload the COA
There are three options for uploading COAs in Canix:

From the Package table, find the Package to upload for and the “COA” column. If the Package does not have a COA already, you’ll see an option to “Upload”:
Note - when you upload a COA to a package, *all other packages* with the same Production Batch Number will also have the same COA added.

COAs can also be uploaded from the Package Detail side-panel which appears when clicking on a Package:
- Finally COAs can be uploaded from the “Lab Results” section of the Package details page

2.2 Through Metrc Integration
COA PDFs uploaded in Metrc sync directly into Canix when lab test results are updated by the lab. In the event a COA fails to sync, Manual Uploads can still be used.

Enable Metrc Integration
- In Settings > Integrations in Canix, confirm your Metrc credentials are connected and syncing.

Sync Lab Results & COAs
- No action is needed to sync Lab Results from Metrc, this will occur automatically every 10 minutes.

If you need to pull fresh Lab Results / COAs sooner than 10 minutes, use the “Refresh Metrc Data” action in the bottom left of your screen and select “Packages” to sync sooner:

Review and Confirm
- Navigate to the relevant Package in Canix to see if the COA/lab results are attached.
- Synced COAs will be shown in the Package Table, Side Panel and Details Page like manually uploaded COAs.
- If needed, attach the PDF manually if Metrc only provides potency data rather than the full COA document.
2.3 Through Confident Cannabis Integration
COA PDFs uploaded in Confident Cannabis sync directly into Canix when lab test results are updated by the lab. Canix syncs test results from Confident Cannabis once per day. In the event a COA fails to sync, Manual Uploads can still be used.

Set Up Integration
- In Settings > Integrations, connect your Confident Cannabis account to Canix.

Sync Lab Results & COAs
- No action is needed to sync Lab Results from Confident Cannabis, this will occur automatically once your lab results are ready in Confident Cannabis.

Match COA to Package
- Canix will match the Sample ID or Package ID to the corresponding record.
- A PDF or URL to the full COA may appear under COA/Lab Results in Canix.

Verify Attachment
- Double-check the COA/Lab Results section to confirm the document has synced correctly.

3. COAs Following Packages Through Splits
3.1 Splitting a Package in Canix
- Go to Inventory and select the Package you want to split.
- Click Split Package or New Package from Existing.
- Enter the new quantities for the child Package(s).

3.2 COA Association on Child Packages
The logic for associating COAs to child packages varies depending on the source of the Lab Test and COA, and the Production Batch / Lot ID of the child Packages.
3.2.1 Metrc COAs
- Whether or not Test Results / COAs follow to child packages varies from state to state, but generally the following changes trigger new Testing:
- Change of Production Batch #
- If a Production Batch # when creating Packages in Canix, this # gets sent to Metrc and will likely trigger new lab testing.
- Change of Item Type (for example distillate to vape cart)
- Change of Production Batch #
- To ensure Canix test results are in compliance, even as regulations change state to state, Canix will sync exactly the lab results and COA that are associated to each package in Metrc.
- The "Copy lab results from source" checkbox in Metrc facilities only affects Manually uploaded lab results / COAs.
3.2.2 Manually Uploaded COAs:
- After initial Test Results and COAs are uploaded by Production Batch # or Lot ID (read more about lab test uploads here) use the “Copy lab results from source” checkbox to carry over test results to child packages. This checkbox is enabled by default:
The checkbox must be selected for Test Results and the COA to carry to child Packages. Test Results will NOT carry to the child package just because the Production Batch # or Lot ID is the same as the Source Package.
3.2.3 BioTrack (Florida and New York):
- COAs are NOT synced from BioTrack. COAs must be uploaded manually.
- After initial Test Results are synced from BioTrack, and COAs are uploaded, use the “Copy lab results from source” checkbox to carry over test results to child packages. This checkbox is enabled by default:
The checkbox must be selected for Test Results and the COA to carry to child Packages. Test Results will NOT carry to the child package just because the Production Batch # or Lot ID is the same as the Source Package.
3.2.4. Confident LIMs COAs
- After initial Test Results and COAs are synced from Confident Cannabis use the “Copy lab results from source” checkbox to carry over test results to child packages. This checkbox is enabled by default:
The checkbox must be selected for Test Results and the COA to carry to child Packages. Test Results will NOT carry to the child package just because the Production Batch # or Lot ID is the same as the Source Package.
4. Attaching COAs to Sales Orders

Create or Open a Sales Order
- In the Sales section of Canix, open or create a Sales Order.

Add Packages
- Select the relevant Packages for the order.
- Canix will automatically references any COAs attached to those Packages when Generating Documents.

Generate Documents
- Some customers require COAs to be included with packing slips or invoices.
- When generating a Canix invoice with “Allocated Packages” selected, you will be able to download the ZIP File of COAs or the Invoice through the “Download” action on the Invoice PDF.

Send or Print
- Email or print the Sales Order with attached COAs to remain compliant and transparent.

Consistent File Names
- Label COA documents with matching Package IDs and dates for easy tracking. For example: “20250201 - Test Tag #3212”
