Overview
Canix has introduced an update to package tag functionality across the platform. This update improves how you select, apply, and view tags, ensuring your package creation process aligns with Metrc’s lowest available tag logic.
With this enhancement, users can now:
Automatically use the lowest true available Metrc tag.
Apply tags consecutively across multiple packages.
View all live Metrc tags directly within Canix — no need to switch between systems.
Key Improvements
1. Updated Tag Selector
The new tag selector is available across all workflows involving package creation, including:
Split packages
Combine packages
Manufacturing
Production runs
Harvests
Canix now automatically pulls tag data from Metrc to identify and use the lowest available tag number for your next transaction.
When the “Apply Consecutively” option is enabled, Canix will:
Find the lowest available tag.
Reserve the number of consecutive tags needed based on your package count.
For example:
If you enter tag 1722 and want to create 3 packages, Canix will identify the next consecutive valid tags (e.g., 1744, 1745, 1746) directly from Metrc.
2. Consecutive Tag Application
When you turn on Apply Consecutively, Canix checks:
The lowest available tag in your Metrc inventory.
Whether enough consecutive tags exist to fulfill your package quantity.
If the starting tag is valid, Canix automatically applies the next consecutive tags to your new packages.
Example Workflow:
Enter your first tag (e.g., 1744).
Specify the number of packages to create (e.g., 3).
Canix will assign tags 1744, 1745, and 1746.
You’ll see these tags populate just as before, with the added benefit of automatic validation.
3. Tag Validation
Canix verifies all tags against Metrc in real time. If a tag:
Is invalid or no longer available — you’ll see an explanation.
Is already used in Canix but unsubmitted — Canix shows you where it’s being used so you can find and manage it quickly.
This ensures that all tags used are valid and traceable, preventing errors during submission.
4. Live Tag Inventory in Canix
A major improvement in this release is the new Metric Tag Inventory view.
Navigate to:
Tags & Labels → Metrc Tag Inventory → Metrc Package Tab
Here, you can:
View all live Metrc tags available for use.
Identify your starting tag number (e.g., 1743).
Plan your consecutive tag use without switching between Canix and Metrc.
This provides a complete view of your tag availability in real time, streamlining your workflow and reducing tag errors.
Benefits of the Update
Ensures use of true lowest available tags directly from Metrc.
Enables faster, consecutive package creation.
Provides full visibility into live tag inventory from within Canix.
Reduces manual tag entry and validation errors.
Eliminates the need to cross-check tags between Metrc and Canix.
Summary
This update brings significant improvements to how package tags are managed in Canix:
Smarter tag logic.
Consecutive tag assignment.
Real-time tag validation.
Direct access to live tag inventory.
With these changes, you can confidently create and manage packages while ensuring full Metrc compliance and operational efficiency.
