Non-Cannabis Product & Lot uploaders can be used to create or update 100s or 1000s of products and lots at a time.
Use these uploaders to:
- Import Products & Lots from other systems into Canix
- Update existing Non-Cannabis Product data such as PAR Levels, SKUs, and Categories
- Import new shipments of Lots into your facility
- Update Lot quantities after cycle counts and inventory audits

Note that as of July 30th, 2024, the Product Unique ID field is no longer required for all uploads. To learn more about the changes please see this video.
Import New Non-Cannabis Products
1. Navigate to Admin > Facility Data Uploader and select “Non-Cannabis Products” in the top left hand dropdown. Then select “Download Template”:
From the download template modal, choose “With no existing data” to download the CSV template for Non-Cannabis products.
2. Fill in the template with your inventory, the available fields for Non-Cannabis Products are:

Name (required) |
The name for your product. |
Shared Facilities (required) |
A comma separated list of the license #s for the facilities the product should be available in (G0003, L0003, H0003). You can only upload products to facilities you have access to! |
Units (required) |
Possible units include:

Allow fractional deduction (required) |
Enter “TRUE” if it’s possible to use part of one unit, for example a pound of sugar. Enter FALSE for items like jars, lids, labels, where partial consumption is not possible. |
SKU (optional) |
The SKU for this product, SKUs must be unique from all other NCI SKUs in the facility. |
Category (optional) |
An optional category for the product. This Category must already exist in Canix. |
Location (optional) |
An optional Location for the product. This Location must already exist in Canix. |
Unique Identifier (optional) |
Leave this field blank when creating new Products! This field is only required for product updates and allows Canix to see exactly which product is being updated. To find the Unique Identifier for a Non-Cannabis product, see the Non-Cannabis Products table at app.canix.com/inventory/non-cannabis/products. |
PAR |
Numeric value for the periodic automatic replacement level for this product. This is not auto-calculated or updated by Canix. |
3. With “Non-Cannabis Product” selected as the facility data type, select “Upload”, then “Add File”. Excel and CSV files will both be accepted. Select “Manually Enter Data” to enter data in a table and create multiple Non-Cannabis Products at once.
4. Once the data loads, map columns to the columns in your spreadsheet to the corresponding Canix fields. If you used the Canix template the columns will be automatically mapped for you. If you're exporting inventory from a previous software system into Canix, you can upload fields with different names and map those to the corresponding fields in Canix.
5. Check that all data is valid before importing, you’ll see invalid cells highlighted in red in the importer tool:
Select “Invalid” as a short-cut to see all rows that will fail to upload and require data corrections.
6. When the data is prepared, select “Submit” and review your upload in the “Upload History” table:
- In the table you’ll see “Complete” in green if all rows were successful, and “Complete” in yellow if the upload was partially completed. You’ll also see the total # of rows uploaded, and the total # completed.
- To download any failed rows, with error messages, select the “Download CSV” action on the right hand side of the table:
7. To view the uploaded data select the link icon next to the data type:
If you need to revert uploaded products, use the “Bulk Delete Products” action from the Non-Cannabis Products table.
Import New Non-Cannabis Lots
1. Navigate to Admin > Facility Data Uploader and select “Non-Cannabis Lots” in the top left hand dropdown. Then select “Download Template”:
From the download template modal, choose “With no existing data” to download the CSV template for Non-Cannabis Lots.
2. Fill in the template with your inventory, the available fields for Non-Cannabis Products are:

Lot Name (required) |
A free text value to identify your lot. This could be an ID, a tag or barcode #, or a combination of the received date and product name. |
Product Unique Identifier (required if the product name is not unique) |
Providing this ID lets Canix know which Non-Cannabis Product to associate the Lot to. To find the Unique Identifier for a Non-Cannabis product, see the Non-Cannabis Products table at app.canix.com/inventory/non-cannabis/products. |
Barcode/Tag (optional) |
A barcode value for printing in labels if desired. This barcode must be unique from all other barcodes in the company. |
Vendor (required) |
Name of an existing Vendor in Canix. If you don’t have Vendors created, or don’t know the Vendor for the Lot, create a Vendor called “Default” in Canix. Use this for any Lots where the Vendor is unknown. |
Cost (required) |
The costs up to four decimal places. |
Quantity (required) |
The quantity in the lot. |
Units |
Possible units include:
The units must be compatible with the units from the associated Non-Cannabis Product. For example for a Non-Cannabis Product set to pounds, all Lots must be in weight units |
Received Date (required) |
Valid date formats include: YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY-M-DD, MM/DD/YYYY, M/DD/YYYY. |
