Setup and Getting Started
Before using the app, ensure you have the latest app version, appropriate device permissions enabled, harvest settings are configured, and any hardware accessories are connected.
-
App Version, Permissions, Harvest Settings can be found under the SETTINGS menu on the left drawer
-
The CONNECTIONS menu on the left drawer is for connecting to these hardware accessories:
- Scale Adapter - For receiving weights from a scale to the app
- RFID Reader - For harvesting, auditing, moving plants, changing growth phases and destroying plants
- Barcode Scanner - 1D wired or wireless (BT) for harvesting, auditing, moving plants, changing growth phases and destroying plants
Follow app instructions for individual device set up steps. For compatible hardware, see the Hardware Guide - Canix Mobile App
Once your app is set up, start by selecting the facility or license you want to take action in. This can be done from either the DASHBOARD or at the top of the app menu
Touchless Harvesting
-
Start a harvest
- Select the facility or license you will be harvesting from
-
From the Dashboard, scan your first plant tag to pre-populate harvest information
-
Enter the destination dry room for the harvest and any custom lot ID and Create Harvest.
The harvest name is pre-filled with the strain from the tag and today as the harvest date. You can update or change this information, along with the unit of measure for the harvest. NOTE - if using a connected scale, make sure the unit of measure is the same
- Enter plant weight.
-
If you have a scale connected and configured, this weight will populate automatically based on the auto-print interval set on the scale. NOTE - You can select the Scale Connected or Scale Disconnected to connect/disconnect from the scale.
-
-
Add plant to harvest and continue scanning or manually entering tags
-
When completed, you can review the harvested plants, harvest information or continue adding plants until your harvest is ready to submit to Metrc. If not, you may also save the draft harvest to the device and continue later
-
Manage or resume a harvest
From the HARVESTS menu, you can view all harvests for the facility or license. This includes unsubmitted, active and harvests saved to the device. Only saved harvests on the device can be edited.
You can also start a harvest with the Start Scanning button
-
Additional harvest settings
-
Edit Auto Advance Timing
When a scale is connected, the plant Auto Advance Timing can be adjusted from either the main SETTINGS menu, or from the harvest summary of a draft harvest (shown here)
NOTE - The Ohaus scale minimum auto-print interval is 1 second, therefore the minimum Auto Advance time for the app is 1 second. Weights are only recoded once a value greater than 0 is sent. It is recommended that you ensure the plant is already hanging and stabilized before scanning a tag.
-
Adjust RFID Read Range (Power Level)
When an RFID reader is connected, the reading range (power level) can be adjusted to minimize picking up unwanted tags. Use the ((o)) menu icon to access the power level settings.
The minimum range is recommended when harvesting to ensure tags from adjacent unharvested and harvested plants do not get picked up.
-
Batch Management
Manage untagged plant batches for the selected facility or license from the PLANT BATCHES menu. Actions that can be taken on plant batches are:
- Change Growth Phase
- Move
- Destroy
- Record Waste
Use the checkbox on the batch card to select multiple batches.
To assist in locating plant batches, filters can be applied to narrow your search. When a filter is active, the button will have a border
-
Change Growth Phase
To change the growth phase of a plant batch select Change Phase and enter the promotion information. The next available tag will be automatically suggested. If you would like to select a different starting tag, you may use the tag scanner (circled) to select a different tag.
After starting the promotion, you may add or remove any additional plant batches (tag scan or manual entry) you may have. Starting and ending tag numbers are provided for easy reference.
-
Move Location
To move plant batch locations select one or more batches and enter the destination location. You may add (tag scan or manual entry) or remove additional batches to the move before submitting
-
Destroy
To Destroy plants from plant batches begin by selecting one or more batches, selecting Destroy, and entering the required information to start.
Enter the Count to Destroy for each plant batch on the second step of the flow. Submit Destroy to complete.
-
Record Waste
Similar to the Destroy flow above, select batches you want to record waste for and enter the required information. Enter the total combined waste weight for the selected plant batches. The waste weight will be distributed proportionally across the plant batches based on the number of immatures
Plant Management
Simply scan a tag with the barcode scanner, RFID reader or manual entry from the Dashboard or main menu to take actions on Tagged Plants. Actions that can be taken are:
- Start Harvest
- Manicure Harvest
- Move Location
- Destroy
-
Record Waste
Tagged Plant actions are similar to Plant Batch actions and Harvesting flows detailed above
Locations
From the LOCATIONS menu, you can organize and view plant information in you facility or license locations. Use the star icon on a location card to save it as a favorite. Select a card to view the plant and batch information in the location.
Harvests
From the HARVESTS menu, you can view all harvests for the facility or license. This includes unsubmitted, active and harvests saved to the device. Only saved harvests on the device can be edited.
You can also start a harvest with the Start Scanning button
Auditing
Auditing in the Canix app allows you to scan a location for plant tags and take follow up actions on those plants.
Begin by navigating to the AUDITS menu. From here you can sort, filter, review, resume draft and start new audits.
-
Start a new audit
Select the (+) and choose the location you would like to audit and the scanning method
Begin scanning tags in the audit location. You can toggle between scanning methods or add accessory hardware to connect as needed
Once you have completed you scan, you can Review the results or Save as Draft
-
Audit results
The Audit results will be grouped into 4 categories
- Expected - This is the number of tags expected in the location
- Found - This is the number of the expected tags that were found in the audit
- Missing - This is the number of remaining tags that have not yet been found during the audit
-
Excess - These are tags that were detected but do not belong to the location of this audit
You can filter and review the results using the pill menu filter. You can also rename the Audit or search for specific tags before submitting. Once completed, submit the audit and take Add-On actions (optional)
-
Add-On actions
Add-On actions can be applied to the Found tags from the audit. Options are:
- Move
-
Change Growth Phase
Skip Add-Ons if you do not want to apply any Add-On actions. NOTE - You will not be able to return to the audit and take these actions later. You will have to recreate the audit to apply Add-Ons again.
-
Adjust RFID reader range (power level)
Use the RFID power level icon to adjust the range for your needs. Generally, auditing is best with a high power level. If you are starting an audit to move or promote plants in a crowded space, a lower power level may be preferred.
Reconciliation (Coming Soon)
