Creating Plant Waste from a Harvest is done at a later time through the process Create Harvest Waste.
Create Plant Batch Waste
On the Web Application:
- Navigate to Plants > Plant Batches > View:Active
- Use the filters to narrow down your search (by Plant Batch, Strain, Location, etc.)
- Once filtered, check the boxes next to each Plant Batch to select them
- This can be done in bulk by selecting multiple Plant Batches to create waste for at once
- Creating Waste for multiple Plant Batches will associate the same Waste log with all of them
- To select multiple consecutive Plant Batches, check the box of the first consecutive Plant Batch then hold shift when selecting the last Plant Batch
- Review your selections to confirm accuracy

Select Actions > Create Plant Batch Waste
- Complete all required fields:
- Enter Disposal Method
- Enter Total Waste Weight & Units
- Enter Waste Reason
- Enter Waste Entry Date
- Enter Mixed Material
- Enter Notes
- Click Add Plant Batch if you need to add additional Plant Batches to log waste for
- Verify everything looks correct
- Select Submit
On the Mobile Application:
- Navigate to Plants > Create Immature Waste
- Select Filter: Filter plants by Room, Batch, or Strain
- After applying your filters, click on each Plant Batch you wish to select
- Select Enter Plant Waste Details
- Enter Disposal Method
- Enter Mixed Material
- Enter Total Waste Weight & Units
- Enter Waste Reason
- Enter Notes
- Enter Date
- Verify everything looks correct
- Select Create Waste for # Batches
Create Vegetative or Flowering Plant Waste
Canix provides the option to both Destroy the Plant(s) and Create Waste during this process.
For Metrc facilities creating Plant Waste without destroying them at the same time, submitting this Waste will automatically email the user a .csv file to Upload Plant Waste to Metrc. You must complete this step In Metrc to upload the waste to Metrc and remain compliant.
On the Web Application:
- Navigate to Plants > Plants
- From the View drop-down in the top right, select the status of the Plant(s) you wish to create Waste for: Tracked Flowering or Tracked Vegetative
- Use the filters to narrow down your search (by Plant Batch, Strain, Location, etc.)
- Once filtered, check the boxes next to each Plant tag to select them
- This can be done in bulk by selecting multiple Plants to create waste for at once
- Creating Waste for multiple Plants will associate the same Waste log with all of them
- To select in bulk, check the box of the first consecutive Plant then hold shift when selecting the last Plant
- Review your selections to confirm accuracy

Creating Plant Waste on the Mobile Application can be done by one of two methods below.
- Navigate to Plants > Destroy & Create Waste (this option is also used to create waste only)
- Select either Tag or Filter and follow the steps below depending on your selection
By Tag: Scan individual tagged plants
- Navigate to Plants > Destroy & Create Waste (this option is also used to create waste only)
- Select Tag: Scan individual tagged plants

Select the red + to scan a tag
- Or select Back to type and select the tag
- To add more Plants, select Add Plant and Scan Another (or Return on your keyboard)
- After adding all Plants to create waste for, select Back to view the complete list of added Plants
- Select Enter Plant Waste Details

Complete all required fields, confirming everything is accurate

- Reason
- Notes
- Date

- Navigate to Plants > Destroy & Create Waste (this option is also used to create waste only)

- Select Filter and click into each Filter option to make your selections
- After applying your filters, click on each Plant to select it
- After selecting all Plants to create Waste for, select Enter Plant Waste Details

View Waste
View Plant Batch Waste
On the Web Application, navigate to:
- Reporting > Inventory > Waste
View Flowering or Vegetative Plant Waste
On the Web Application, navigate to either:
- Plants > Waste
- or
- Reporting > Inventory > Waste
Edit or Delete Waste
The steps will vary depending on your facility type, but will be the same for Plant or Plant Batch Waste.
Metrc Facilities
- If you need to make an edit after submitting Waste in Canix but before uploading your CSV file to Metrc, simply edit the CSV directly & upload to Metrc. Then, contact Canix Support at help@canix.com to correct what is shown in Canix.
- If you need to make an edit after submitting Waste in Canix and after uploading your CSV file to Metrc, please contact both Metrc Support and Canix Support to correct or delete the waste.

Track Submissions
Track Plant Waste and/or Destruction from your Submissions page in the Canix Web Application.
Metrc Facilities
- Navigate to Admin > Metrc Submissions > All to review or check the status of your submissions to Metrc. If the submission status is Failed, click on the submission name to see the Metrc error message.
Non-Metrc Facilities
- Navigate to Admin > User Submissions > All
