Canix's custom labels dynamically populate plant, plant batch, package and non-cannabis inventory information based on the selected tag numbers. Custom labels offer flexible formatting options to align with state compliance requirements, like bolded text and borders. Label templates save these layouts, label size and formatting to recreate standard labels for future inventory.
Follow the steps below to create and manage label templates.

Create Label Template
First, follow the steps to create labels here. Users creating label templates will need Edit permissions to
Once fields are formatted on the label, and the label size is set, follow the steps below to save a label template.
- Select Save under templates on the left-hand side
- Enter the template name in the Template Name field that appears
- Select Save to create the template
Now that the label template is saved, it can be accessed from any facility. The label template can only be used for the label type selected when the template was saved (Plant, Plant Batch, Package or Non-Cannabis).
Saving Updates to Label Templates
- Select a template from the templates dropdown list
- Make any changes to the label fields, formatting, or label size
- Select Save below the template on the left-hand side
- To update the template name, select Save As and change the name in Template Name field that appears
Note - this will create a new template with this name. You will need to select the old template and delete it to remove the old named template.
Using Label Templates
- Select the label template from the Template dropdown list
- Search and select a tag number to populate the field information on the label preview
Note - The tag type will prefill based on the selected template, and the template can only be used for that tag type - Specify the other optional label details, if applicable
- Copies - the number of labels you want to generate per tag number. For example, creating 100 pre-roll labels for the same tag number would specify 100 in the Copy field
- # of Tags - the number of tags to generate in a sequence. For example, if you're creating labels for 100 new plants with sequential tag numbers, you enter the starting tag number and enter 100 in the # of Tags field to populate 100 sequential tag numbers.
- Select Download to PDF button to download the PDF of labels for printing
Delete Label Templates
Deleting a label template will remove this for all facilities and users.
- Select the label template name from the templates list
- Select Delete in the
- Confirm deletion on the modal that appears

The following permissions must be enabled to create, manage and view label templates.

- Edit Access to Tags & Labels > Templates is required to create a new label template, or save updates to a label template

- View Access to Tags & Labels > Templatesis required to view and use saved templates
- Edit Access to Tags & Labels > Labels is required to use the saved templates
