How to Join the Custom Reporting Beta
To join the Beta, please email help@canix.com. Please let us know who on your team is interested and what you’d like to accomplish with Custom Reporting in Canix.
How to Turn on Custom Reporting for Users:
You’ll need a Canix admin with the ability to edit User Permission Groups.
Find the “Custom Reporting” permission under “Reporting” permissions and switch this to “Edit” access. All users associated with the User Permission Group will now have access.
“Edit” access will allow users access to ALL of the datasets available in Custom Reporting, including, but not limited to:
- Sales Orders
- Sales Order Payments
- Sales Order Items
- Sales Order Invoices
- Packages
- Package Adjustments
- Package Conversions (Splits & Combines)
- Non-Cannabis Lots
- Non-Cannabis Usage
- Plants
- Plant Batches
- Harvests
- Plant Waste
- Plant Batch Waste
- Harvest Waste
- Destroyed Plantings
If you do not want a user to see part of the data above, DO NOT grant them access to Custom Reporting. Please be aware that some of these datasets include labor cost information.
In the near future Canix will add more granular permissions to control access to specific datasets, as well as Labor Cost permissions to hide labor related data for users that do not typically have access in Canix.
Additional datasets including Labor Logs, Harvests, Plants, Plant Batches, Runs, Batches, Cannabis Usage, Purchase Orders, Tasks and more are on the way.

Key Phrases, Formulas and Parameters
These advanced features will help you get the most out of Custom Reporting. Use Key Phrases to build reports even faster, and Formulas and Parameters to add a wide variety of customizations to your reports.
Keyword Phrases:
These phrases are recognized by the Search Bar, and help to quickly filter, cut and compare data. For example use the “growth of” and “monthly” phrases to see the % change in a metric over-time:
For a full list of phrases please see this list.
Formulas & Parameters:
Formulas allow you to create new columns based on existing columns and parameters set by yourself. For example using a formula to get the age in days of a package:
For more information on Formulas and Parameters, see this article.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I provide feedback to Canix?
Let us know what fields, datasets and reports you’d like to build next by posting in Canny. Please log your feedback under the category called “Custom Reporting Beta”!
In the near future Canix will also schedule webinars where we’ll be able to discuss feedback on the reporting tools collaboratively.
How long will the Beta period last for?
The Custom Reporting Beta will last from the beginning of May, into June. In June Canix will transition all default reporting to the new platform.
After the transition, Custom Reporting will remain free of charge until the beginning of August at which point Custom Reporting in Canix will be an additional charge for fully customized reporting. This allows Canix to provide a more robust reporting platform that reduces costs for your business to create its own data warehouse for reporting. Default Reports will continue to be free for all Canix users!
What does this mean for Default Reporting in Canix?
Default reports will remain available for free in Canix. We will be transitioning the default reports from being provided via Looker, to ThoughtSpot. To learn more about this transition read more here.
Why aren't filters loading for me?
ThoughtSpot filters work differently than in Canix tables, and will not being searching/filtering until you press "Enter":
Date fields are aggregated by month, how do I change that?
Hover over the field title and you'll see a "..." menu. When selected you'll have the option to change the "Time Bucket" and set the data to aggregate by quarter, month, week, day, etc.
I'm not seeing Formula averages generating as expected, what can I do to get the expected results?
When using mathematical operations in formulas, ThoughtSpot will calculate based on aggregated data. For example if you take the average of the quantity column on the Packages dataset, and you have the data grouped by Item, what you'll actually be calculating is the average of the totals summed for the quantity column. This is different than the averages of the individual Package row data.
To get averages at the row level, even when grouping data use ThoughtSpot's Group Aggregation Functions.
How can I capture point in time data for end of month inventory?
Use the "Schedule" feature on Liveboards to schedule CSV, XLXS, and PDF files to be delivered to your inbox. See this video for details!
- Sales Menus
- End of Month Inventory
- Sharing Data with Partners
- Audit Logs
What Items were created from my source Flower/Distillate/Fresh Frozen etc.?
To understand how Items are converted into different items in Canix, use the "Package Conversions" dataset. This contains information about Split Package Actions and Combine Package Actions that have occurred in Canix.
