RFID Scanning in Canix
Ensure your scanner is using the configuration described above. RFID scanning works similarly to barcode scanning.
1. Connect your tablet/laptop to your scanner via bluetooth or hardwire.
2. Enter your cursor into the tag search box on one of the Plants or Packages tables
3. Scan the tags that you’re updating, or taking action on and select “Actions”
- If you see an Action in black, you can take that action without selecting your inventory. The action will be taken for all inventory currently on the page.
- For some actions you may need to select inventory before submitting.
1. Canix does not currently alert you if you scan a tag that is not in the existing dataset. For example if you filtered the plants table to a specific batch, and then starting scanning, we would not show you if you had scanned tags that did not exist in that batch, but existing elsewhere in Canix. If this is important to you, please upvote this request in Canny.
2. RFID scanners can be set to specific ranges, for example to scan within 10 feet, within 50, etc. It is possible to pick up RFID tags that are a significant distance from the scanner. Please consider how the range on your scanner is configured before taking compliance actions with RFID. When taking compliance actions it is best to have the inventory isolated and the range on your scanner limited so that you do not pick up tags from neighboring rooms.
- For example when moving plants from veg to flowering, you may consider taking the compliance actions while plants are on carts in between the rooms, with the RFID range set to 15 feet or less to avoid picking up other plants that are not being moved.

Can I use other RFID scanners with Canix?
The RFD 8500 is the only RFID scanner that has been tested with Canix.
Other RFID scanners are expected to work as well, as long as the following conditions are met:
1. The scanner supports HID, or Keyboard Emulation mode.
2. The scanner supports returning each tag on a new line, or supports including a comma in between each scanned tag. This ensures Canix read and search each tag separately.
