It’s important to determine which inventory is available to sell, and which inventory is reserved for other purposes and not ready to be sold. This can be managed in Canix’s Packages page to mark certain packages as “Available to Sell.” These quantities can be summarized in the Inventory Availability page separately from all packaged quantities, as well as visible in the Packages page with a column labeled “Marked Available for Sale.” The following steps walk through managing this flag on inventory, and how to sell from the inventory marked available for sale.

All Facilities
-
- Packages can be toggled as available for sale, and toggled to be unavailable for sale, from the Packages page. Select one or more packages from Inventory > Packages: Active and navigate to Actions > Toggle Availability for Sale.
- If a package was not marked available for sale prior to toggling this option, Canix will show a green checkmark in the Marked Available for Sale column.
- If a package was previously marked for sale prior to toggling this option, Canix will remove the green checkmark from the Marked Available for Sale column.
- Both a package currently marked available for sale, and a package not marked available for sale can be selected when toggling availability under Actions. When this is the case, the marked for sale package will now be marked unavailable for sale, and the unavailable package will now be marked available for sale.
- Packages can be toggled as available for sale, and toggled to be unavailable for sale, from the Packages page. Select one or more packages from Inventory > Packages: Active and navigate to Actions > Toggle Availability for Sale.
-
Metrc Facilities Only
- Packages that have a test status in Metrc of “TestPassed” are automatically marked available for sale in Canix. This is a setting that can be controlled on each facility under Admin > Facility Management > select a facility > scroll to the bottom for the option labeled “Mark Tested Packages as Sellable.”
- If this option is disabled, packages will not be marked available to sell automatically, and can be managed manually using the steps above.
Inventory Availability Reporting
Additional columns can be found in Canix’s Inventory Availability report to track Marked Available to Sell inventory separately. As orders are placed requesting quantities per item, the inventory availability report will calculate both the remaining available inventory in total, and the remaining available inventory marked available for sale. These new columns are below:
- Total (Marked for Sale) - This column represents all Active packages that have the Marked Available for Sale flag toggled on the package. To find packages of this quantity, click on the item name in this report > view Total (Marked for Sale) tab, or navigate to packages > active and look at the Marked for Sale column.
- Available (Marked for Sale) - Ordered quantities are subtracted from the Total (Marked for Sale) quantity to result in the Available (Marked for Sale) value. This is the amount of Marked for Sale inventory you have remaining after orders are fulfilled.
-
- There is no differentiation in this calculation between orders with packages allocated to them already, and orders that have no packages allocated to them yet.
- Ordered quantities are only deducted from this quantity if the Sales Order has a status of Created, Approved or Filled. Orders of any other status will not be included in this calculation, even if packages related to this order are still Active. To resolve any times this discrepancy arises, change the sales order status to Created, Approved, or Filled, until the inventory has left your Active inventory.
-
- Ordered - This column will display the same quantity, whether using Marked for Sale or not. All Active ordered quantities will be summed here, regardless of packages allocated to the order.
-
- Ordered quantities are only summed in this quantity if the Sales Order has a status of Created, Approved or Filled. Orders of any other status will not be included in this calculation, even if packages related to this order are still Active. To resolve any times this discrepancy arises, change the sales order status to Created, Approved, or Filled, until the inventory has left your Active inventory.
-
- Allocated (Marked for Sale) - All Active packages marked available for sale that are allocated to an Active sales order are summed in this column. This indicates how much ordered quantity has been fulfilled, and that they have been fulfilled with packages available for sale.
-
- Allocated quantities are only summed in this quantity if the Sales Order has a status of Created, Approved or Filled. Orders of any other status will not be included in this calculation, even if packages on this order are still Active. Selling from Available to Sell Inventory
There are two ways to place orders from inventory marked available for sale. Users can place orders through the inventory availability report, or through package reporting.
Package Reporting
- Navigate to packages > active to view all packages, or packages > unallocated to view all packages not currently allocated to a sales order
- Tip: Use any filters and remove any columns not needed for indicating inventory when placing orders and save a new view to easily see available packages going forward.
- Using filters to search for certain products, view the Marked Available for Sale column to determine which packaged quantities can be sold.
- Tip: Move columns around so the columns for quantity, Marked Available for Sale, batch information, and more are near item names and tag numbers for placing orders easily
- Select the checkbox next to each package to be sold. Note: Packages selected from previous filters will still remain selected as you filter for additional products.
- To view total selected packages, see the number of rows selected in the right corner of your table.
- To clear all rows from your selection, use the X next to the number of rows selected
- To clear individual rows from your selection, remove all filters to view your inventory and click the checkbox next to the package you no longer want selected.
- Once all packages are selected, navigate to Actions > Create Sales Order to populate a new sales order with line items, quantities and packages from your selection
- Complete the sales order as usual with customer information, pricing and delivery date. Follow these steps to create and manage sales orders.
Inventory Availability Reporting
- Navigate to Inventory > Availability. Users should remove all columns that don’t relate to available for sale inventory in order to reduce the number of columns visible, and reduce mistakes.
- Tip: Views can be saved in this report to default to this column view every time you access this report.
- Users should look at the Available (Marked for Sale) column to understand the remaining available quantity to place orders from
- Select one or more line items to add to sales orders > Actions > Create Sales Order
- A new sales order will populate with the line items selected and can be completed as usual. For help creating sales orders, follow these steps.
- Note: Available quantities on sales orders are total available packaged quantities and not specific to Marked for Sale quantities. Updates are coming soon to distinguish between these different quantities on sales orders.
