Sub Locations
Canix now offers sublocation placement in your Facility Data. We have found that a lot of customers have locations inside other locations. We can now assist with categorizing sublocations by adding the parent location when creating a new location in Facility Data.
Items
- Navigate to Admin > Facility Data > Items
- Select + Create Item
- Create Item by completing all required fields: Item Name, Item Type, Strain, and Weight Unit
- Select Create

Customers are often times creating multiple items that have the same details, but with a different name, in order to keep inventory organized. Items can now be cloned in Canix by simply selecting the Copy Icon on the right right column of the Item. This will copy all fields from the existing Item except for the Name and autofill all required fields for the new Item being created.
Note: Facilities in Colorado can now add THC and CBD percentages from Canix to Items required by Metrc.
SKUs
Canix now offers the option to add a SKU to each of your Items. We added in SKUs because we want our customers to be able to use SKUs for reporting purposes and internal inventory management. This optional SKU can be alphanumeric, and allows for customers to create their own Internal Naming Convention. A SKU can be added when creating a new Item or when editing an existing Item. Note: When making changes to this field it will update all packages Active and Inactive with that Item Name as well.
Sub-Types
Canix now offers the option to add a Sub-Type to each of your Item Types. We added in Sub-Types because the Item Types are compliance types and the list of Item Types that you have available to you in your state is dependent upon what the state track and trace system requires for Item Types. Since many customers have different types of Flower (Buds, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C, Smalls, Tops, etc), Sub-Types allow you to break your inventory down into the specific categories you care about. Deactivate or Delete Items
Keep product lists clean by deactivating and reactivating Items for current products by accessing Actions > Delete Items under Facility Data. Deactivating Items will remove Items from package creation and sales order product searches to reduce mistakes in using outdated Item names.
- 🚨 Note: If Metrc allows for the Item to be deleted, the Item will be deleted instead of deactivated, even if currently used/associated to active packages. Please confirm your Items are not associated to active packages before deleting to avoid errors.
